Two Girl Scout Troops are making prototype quilts. You may want to follow their example or create your quilt with your own ideas.
Example One
This quilt was made using quilt squares obtained from Oriental Trading. The squares were sewn onto reused blue material obtained from the Hudson Valley Materials Exchange. The blue material came from a flag manufacturing company.
You will need several kits to get enough squares to make a 7.5 foot high by 8 foot wide quilt.
REMEMBER WE ARE REQUIRING WASTE REUSE; SO YOUR QUILT MUST CONTAIN SOME REUSED MATERIALS. You may obtain material rescued from the waste stream at the Hudson Valley Materials Exchange.
Example Two
This quilt was made using PhotoFabric from Blumenthal Craft. (We bought ours at A.C. Moore.) The Girl Scouts drew water conservation pictures on paper; they scanned the pictures into the computer; the pictures were printed on to the PhotoFabric with a ink jet printer (follow the directions on the package); and fabric pictures were sewn on to blue fabric that was left over from making American Flags at an embroidery company.
